This interesting layout developed around a central stair core. With the sites context, and the clients' expectation, the buildings evolution was conducive to contemporary shape, and pleasing aesthetics. Interpreting and combining these elements were the answer in achieving the final result.

A contemporary design was required to
adhere to the strict covenant on the estate. Requests for heavy articulation
and skillion roofs that would be unique but compliment the other homes in the
estate had to be met. Three garages to the front were on the wish list, outlook
to the adjacent lake and views to the Dandenongs were a must as this was the
justification in buying the property.

The home was designed to wrap around the stairwell core which would become not only a point of egress, but an aesthetic feature and light shaft.
The majority of the rooms could now take in the lake as a main aspect.
Important aesthetic signatures make this project a truly individual home:
- The buildings visual mass and articulation.
- Detailed division of shadow-clad panel-lift garage doors,
- Butterfly roofing to garage, with a minimal single garage in front,
- Four deep set windows, with long sloping sills introducing the house,
- Careful material selection and combinations: sandstone, colorbond custom and mini-orb, render, stainless steel, Pilkington green glass, etc.
The houses’ commanding presence is sited back on the property with deep articulation on the bulk, as to not overpower its relatively small site
A large outdoor entertaining balcony can be accessed by multiple rooms bringing in the prize views, whilst retaining a sense of privacy.
A strong indoor/outdoor relationship was then achieved, and with the addition of a water feature wrapping itself around the meals area, a meditative experience can be felt throughout the entwining living areas.
