The design brief was to extend and renovate the existing 70’s residence for the effervescent client’s; the building was to become fashionable and elegant, whilst providing a functional home.  Existing corridors and unused rooms were to become the heart of the house.

This project is an example of the renovation challenge.   The challenge was met, design is sympathetic to the original design, bringing to the residence an innovative modern presence whilst not overwhelming the style of its original vernacular era.  The spaces have become key living areas, natural light flows through the house and exciting lines of site bring new life to the house.

The house needed and uplift in presence, and a sense of address was achieved by the addition of an entrance feature, the floating roof with stainless steel fascia which encases the brightly colored front door. The work also incorporates the use of an appropriate, eclectic color and texture scheme bringing to the project a clean, unique touch.

Unused portions of the house were a concern from the client; a new modern kitchen was introduced. Materials bring new life to the once dull atmosphere and an abundance of new windows utilizes the opportunity for interesting vistas, as well as allowing profuse natural light into the area.

Living area was added as an open plan space integrating the interior and exterior which adds dynamic space to kindle fresh usable space both indoor and out.

Upstairs bedrooms were also pushed out for a space advantage as well as visual articulation advantages.
